Spirit Crumbs
Guiding you to your inner lightworker. Episodes will explore how spirit crumbs (tangible little hints from the Universe) show up in our lives and how they relate to serendipity and synchronicity. I‘ll share how following these has brought me to the spiritual path I‘m on now and how my trust in them has shifted my direction several times! We will talk about spiritual modalities such as oracle cards, pendulums, crystals, psychic/soul reading, mediumship, Reiki/energy healing, numerology, astrology and human design (and whatever else comes our way!) I am your host, Andrea McCallum, and I am an intuitive oracle card reader & energy healer. I have explored many modalities but the only thing I‘m an expert on is my own experience! My hope is that through these episodes, you will find some spirit crumbs of your own along the way! Visit me on Instagram at @spiritcrumbs or @concreteandcrystals!

64: The Artist‘s Way: Recovering a Sense of Faith (Week 12)

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭𝟮
𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩
Week 12 is about trust, mystery, imagination at play and escape velocity.
This ended up being a very emotional episode for me which I wasn’t expecting. I didn’t even record the tasks, but I think the reflections that came up are enough to offer some things to journal about and take action on.
Trusting is the first section of this week. We need to be able to surrender to the universe if we want to invite creativity into our lives. We try so hard to hold on to control and that only closes us off to new possibilities. The next topic, mystery, tells us that we need to be okay with the dark and silent times when we are waiting for the spark of light to emerge. Without the darkness, we wouldn’t be able to experience the light turning on.
Again, we return to the topic of play in this chapter. Julia Cameron reminds us that creating without any financial or productivity benefit is essential for a joyful life. We don’t give enough credit to the importance and creativity hiding in our hobbies and entertainment interests.
The last section, escape velocity, talks about the self sabotage that occurs right before we are about to take off. It’s compared to when a partner can sense when you are about to leave them. Your ego can sense when you are about to escape your comfort zone.
Thank you for coming along on this journey with me. It has been very healing for me to move through these lessons again with a new level of perspective.
As I mentioned in the episode, please let me know what your favourite episode is by sharing, commenting, emailing or DMing me! I’ll be creating a special anniversary episode and I would LOVE your feedback!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭𝟭
𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺
This episode is about week 11/12 in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron. Week 11 is about acceptance, success, movement and ritual. I really enjoy the section on acceptance because it has a really genuine reflection of self-acceptance. Being honest about who we are opens the door to realizing who we are as an artist. I am messy and clean up in fast bursts when I have time to relax. I’ve always been like this and it’s exactly who I am as an artist! Piles and materials everywhere until I am ready to move onto something else and I miraculously clean up a month’s worth of messes in an hour.
Self-respect can also be increased from just showing up and doing the work. The more we create and stick to our commitments, the more we feel like an artist and a person we can respect. This makes us more likely to take on bigger projects and less likely to be swayed by external judgements or criticism.
This connects to the discussion on success because she says that we really cannot measure success by the market value of our work. There is no guarantee as an artist, so success must be from within, by creating work that moves through us from inspiration. At least if a particular piece doesn’t bring in the dollar amount we had in mind, we can feel like we made something to be proud of no matter what. If we create based on what is selling and the financial return doesn’t reflect our expectations, we won’t feel that it was successful at all.
The section on exercise and movement as meditation really resonates with me. I go for regular walks and receive downloads by pacing in my apartment, showering or doing the dishes. Allowing energy to move through us is a spiritual practice that improves our clarity and openness to inspiration and downloads. It also keeps us grounded in our bodies which reminds us to pay attention to our human self. Balance is something that has come up a lot in messages for me, so my walking practice has really helped! Having a space in your home that is an artist altar can remind you who your inner artist is and make rituals more prominent in your life. I know that I feel like my whole life is connected because I prioritize movement and ritual.
The tasks for Week 1𝟭 were:
Voice record yourself reading the basic principles from this book, or any passage that inspires you.
Write out the Artist’s Prayer or a favourite passage by hand.
Buy a creativity notebook. Label pages 1-7 health, possessions, leisure, relationships, creativity, career, spirituality and write 10 wishes for each!
Review your Honest Changes section from Week 4 and assess how far you’ve come.
List 5 ways you’ll change as you continue.
List 5 ways you will nurture yourself in the next 6 months (courses, supplies, vacations)
Plan one loving action or nurturing activity for each of the next 7 days!
Write and MAIL an encouraging letter to your inner artist.
Re-examine your God/Source concept. Does your current belief limit or support your creative expansion? Are you open to changing your beliefs?
List 10 synchronicities that support the possibility of a nurturing creator.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭𝟬𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯
This episode is about week 10/12 in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
Week 10 is all about identifying what addictions we use to block our creativity and growth. This can be food, alcohol, drugs, sex, work or anything else that you use to protect yourself from the discomfort in the possibility of success and creative action. We all have one particular vice that we would have a hard time giving up. For me, as a Capricorn and overachiever, it's definitely workaholism which is discussed in the episode.
When we remove the blocks, we have to look at our real emotions and fears that are hiding in the shadows. Our ego tries to protect us from the unknown by making our blocks more comfortable and familiar than growth. We have to learn that sitting with the emotions and choosing to find the joy in creating are ways that we can make ourselves feel safe in the process. Even when there aren't any ideas coming, we can still come back to our morning pages and express the feelings that are coming up.
Your artistic work is the most important part of the process. This is important to remember when we are tempted by comparison, competition and fame. Social media makes it difficult to focus on what makes us unique but we need to remember that what others do can serve as inspiration to show us possibilities!
The tasks for Week 10 were:
1. The Deadlies: On 7 strips of paper, write: sex, money, alcohol, drugs, work, food, family/friends. Draw a paper 7 times and write 5 negative impacts that subject has had. Put the strip back in each time, making it possible to need to go deeper into some topics.2. Touchstones: Make a list of things that are comforting to you such as baked bread, smooth stones, chipmunks, coffee etc.3. The Awful Truth: Answer the following questions honestly:- What habit gets in the way of your creativity?- What do you think might be a problem? How will you solve it?- What is your payoff?- What friends make you doubt yourself?- What friends believe in you and your talent?- What is the payoff for spending time with destructive friends?- What do you have in common with the destructive and constructive friends?
4. Setting Bottom Line: For workaholism, create self boundaries around what you determine to be "overwork" when looking at your schedule. 5. Cherishing: List 5 small victories; 3 nurturing actions for your inner artist; make 3 nice promises to yourself and keep them; do one lovely thing for yourself each day this week!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟵𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯
This episode is about week 9/12 in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
My artist date this week was creating my manifestation list!
I started this episode by reading the Foreword from Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach. She describes how this book about creativity, spirituality and authenticity showed up as she wrote every day to find her Real Life. This is sooo aligned with The Artist's Way and I couldn't believe that a Spirit Crumb brought me to finally take that book off the shelf for the first time since I got it! Week 9 is all about finding compassion for ourselves in the process of recovering our creativity. Taking away the rigidity and disappointment in ourselves that comes along with creativity can help us to see that failure and self sabotage are part of the process. Through fear, enthusiasm and Creative U-turns (self sabotage), we talk about how to reframe some beliefs that may be contributing to negative self talk and the inability to start. An ExerciseBy looking at our fears and past creative u-turns, we can identify what patterns are showing up and keeping us blocked in a new project!- What fear (resistance) is coming up?- What resentment (anger) is surfacing?- What do you gain from not doing this project?- Write your agreement with the Universe: You take care of the quality, I'll take care of the quantity"I would love for you to share on the podcast your experiences with this series and how creativity and spirituality have been shifting your life and perspective. Reach out if you'd like to be featured in an episode!
The tasks for Week 9 were:
1. Read your morning pages. What have you been complaining about? What insights are helpful? Feel proud that you've done the work and don't judge what is on the page.2. Visualizing. Put yourself in the present tense with your dream or goal. Read it out loud. Put photos of yourself in your dream collage to make it feel more accessible.3. Creative Goals. List your creative goals for the year, month and week.
4. Creative U-turns. List any you can remember from the past and focus on the one you're still kicking yourself for! Forgive yourself and consider if any of them can be completed or taken in a different direction. 5. Artist Symbol: Choose something you have a fondness for - stuffed animal, figurine - and give it a place of honour where you can see it. When you are being hard on yourself, look at it and talk to yourself like you would talk to that sweet object.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟴𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩
This episode is about week 8/12 in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
My artist date this week was playing on Affinity Designer to try digital drawing with a stylus on my laptop!
Week 8 is my favourite of the chapters and thus, probably the longest episode. The main themes in this chapter survival, criticism, turning losses into gains, time, process and taking action. I truly believe that the strength I've built is from turning criticism into improvements and from turning hard times into opportunities to learn about my own resiliency. I am also pretty good at taking action towards the goals I have and following the spirit crumbs of course! Strength can also come from sharing our losses and failures vulnerably and connecting with others. That is something I've focused on in the past year and has really shifted my perspective as my life has completely come apart and back together. Time will pass whether we take the steps to make our lives what we want them to be or not. One year from today, I will be an even better version of myself living in alignment with beliefs I'm not even aware of yet!I would love for you to share on the podcast your experiences with this series and how creativity and spirituality have been shifting your life and perspective.
The tasks for Week 8 were:
- Goal Search: 1. Name your dream 2. True North: How will you know you've accomplished it? 3. Where would you like to be in five years? 4. What action can you take this year? 5. What action can you take this month/week/today? 6. List your dream, true north, role model, action plan (5 years, 3 years, 1 year, 1 month, 1 week, NOW)- New Childhood: Describe how your ideal childhood would have looked. How can you reparent yourself in this way?
- Colour Schemes: Choose a colour and describe the colour in the first person as that colour. What is your favourite colour? Do you see it around you?- List 5 things you are not allowed to do. Put them on paper then dance them out- Ideal Day: List 20 things you like and for each one ask is it free, cheap or expensive? Alone or with someone? Job related? Physical risk? Fast-paced or slow? Mind, body or spiritual? Plan a perfect day in your dream life with the info from the list. Then choose one aspect to do today!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟳𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯
This episode is about week 7/12 in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
My artist date this week was choosing a selection of beers for my family from a local brewery that I pass on my longer walks.
The main themes in this chapter are listening, perfectionism, risks and jealousy. These are all aspects of connecting deeper to our dreams and desires. By listening to our inner voice, we can receive the ideas and inspirations we need and allow them to move through us. Perfectionism is a loop that prevents us from moving forward and taking risks that could lead us to new discoveries. Our jealousy can also point us in the direction of what we would like to be doing and help us to recognize what we need to take action on. Paying close attention to the thoughts that come up from our ego can really guide our creative healing.
The tasks for Week 7 were:- Create a visual of this mantra: Treating myself like a precious object will make me strong.- Listen to one half of an album just for joy- Go to a sacred space of your choosing (library, church, nature)- Create one wonderful smell in your house- Wear your favourite item of clothing for no special reason- Create a collage with pages you rip out in 20 minutes from 10 magazines- Quickly list 5 favourite films and find the common elements or themes- Name your favourite topics to read about and see if they are in your collage- Put your collage in a place of honour

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟲𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦
This episode is about week 6 of 12 in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
My artist date this week was a long walk where I found a house with a community bulletin board and inspirational sayings.
This chapter talks about how creativity and abundance are connected, not mutually exclusive. You can be an artist AND be abundant! The more time we have for play and creative pursuits, the more freedom we feel and abundance follows.
Abundance comes in the form of time, space, love and joy as well as finances. Play is an important part of this journey. When we follow what lights us up, we will attract abundance into our lives. Start small with authentic luxuries like fresh fruit, ordering groceries and getting the softer toilet paper to feel abundant. Say yes to anything that is offered to you and practice receiving!
Start keeping track of the money you spend and observe without judgement. Start with this to start examining your beliefs and habits around money.
The exercises that I talked about for Week 6 are:
Natural Abundance: Pick up 5 interesting rocks
Image File: collect 5 flowers or leaves and consider pressing them
Clearing: Find a worn out piece of clothing to get rid of
Creation: Bake or cook something from scratch
Clearing: Make some changes in your space
Acceptance: Notice any changes to the flow of your life and start saying yes
Prosperity: Any financial changes? Perspective shifts? Add to your image file if here is anything you'd spend your new abundance on.

I decided to record a bonus episode this week to share some of the themes that have been coming up for me and to do another oracle card forecast.
I talked mostly about shadow work (not surprising if you listened to Episode 56 right before this!) and a bit about how I navigate it. My strategy for shadow work is to identify, process, integrate and heal. I am teaching a class on this in the Initiation Circle on the New Moon in Scorpio on Thursday, November 4. I will also be creating another course that will have open registration.
I've opened up some time in my calendar for healing, oracle card readings and soul blend sessions in November. I also have a limited number of spots for podcast startups and support!
I hope you enjoy the oracle card forecast in this episode from the Light Seers Tarot deck. Lots of forward moving energy!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟱𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺
This episode is about the fifth of twelve weeks in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
My artist date this week was finally getting my hair cut after 3 years! (not including the maintenance trips to the barber when half of my head was shaved)
This chapter begins by talking how our own limitations are what keep us from believing and experiencing the extent of what is truly possible for us. We would not be given ideas and dreams that we could not co-create with the universe. The key there is CO-creation! We still need to take action to signal to the universe that we are ready to make it happen.
The universe WANTS us to use our ideas and to receive abundance! It is an act of gratitude and devotion to use the gifts and creativity that are available to you. I really resonate with the way she emphasizes going with the flow in this chapter as well. Letting go of the vision of how creativity will show up allows us to have a more fluid path to our highest expression. I thought that card reading would be the extent of my practice and energy healing is where I’ve been redirected. In terms of my business, most of my clients are actually for my audio editing which was a shower download - stay open!
Consider what payoff you are getting for staying stuck, how you might be self-destructive and what you’ve been depriving yourself of until now.
The exercises that I talked about for Week 5 are:
5 grievances that have prevented you from believing in a supportive God/Creator/Universe
Image File: collect images of 5 desires
List 5 final imaginary lives
5 adventures I would have if I were 20 and had money… (list & collect images)
5 postponed pleasures I will experience at 65 are… (list & collect images)
Ten ways I am mean to myself are...
Ten items I would like to own but don’t are… (list & collect images)
Honestly, my favourite creative block/distraction is… Cartoon yourself doing it.
My payoff for staying stuck is… (morning pages)
The person I blame for being blocked is… (morning pages)

𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺
This episode is about the fourth of twelve weeks in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
My artist date this week was shared with my mom but we went to my favourite metaphysical/crystal shop in person! I hadn't been there in so long and it felt so good!
This chapter begins by talking about honest changes. As we do our morning pages, we start to uncover layers of illusion that have kept us from knowing our real feelings about our lives. "Official feelings" are those that we show to others, often saying we are okay when that is not our real feeling. As we cut through that and gain clarity, it can be uncomfortable because once we know the truth, we can no longer pretend that we are okay.
Whether you are feeling big waves of emotion and seeing major shifts or the changes are more subtle, trust that you can keep going. Acknowledge your progress and don't allow yourself to hide your real feelings again.
The BIG challenge for this week is READING DEPRIVATION. Yes, that's right. No reading or television. Just music and your creativity. Maybe you'll get some cleaning and organizing done, finally try one of the activities from previous lists or discover a new skill!
The exercises that I talked about for Week 4 are:
Environment: Write 1 paragraph, find one image and note your favourite season to describe your ideal environment
Time Travel: Describe yourself at 80 years old. What specific things will you enjoy after 50? Write a letter from that version of you to current you!
Time Travel: What were you like at 8 years old? Write a letter from that kid to you now.
Environment: Find a space in your home that will be your creative environment. Even a corner will do! Use your creativity to decorate it in a way that makes you happy!
Life Pie: Review this pie from week 1 and draw out your current state in each area of life. Connect the dots and check your progress.
Write your own artist prayer
Extended Artist Date: a full day of fun!
Get rid of one low self worth outfit
Look at one area of life that you know needs to change (thanks to some clarity!) and explain what the payoff is for staying stuck.
If you break your reading deprivation, explain why! How did it happen? What was the emotion behind it? How do you feel about it now? Why?

53: The Artist‘s Way: Recovering a Sense of Power (Week 3)

Tuesday Oct 12, 2021
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟯𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳
This episode is about the third of twelve weeks in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
My artist date this week was looking through a thrift store, which I hadn’t done in awhile!
This chapter begins by talking about anger and how it can reveal where we need more boundaries or how we have been holding ourselves back. Synchronicity shows up as opportunities that push us to move forward and take action. It can be scary to realize that we have the freedom and power to live our dreams. Things are not just going to magically happen but there is magic in how the universe can make things happen when we commit and do the work.
Shame comes up when we are building our power because it is linked to ways that our confidence was dimmed in the past. When we are shamed for not doing something well or for our dreams, it becomes part of our shadow. Being seen for our authentic self is incredibly healing and helps us to turn vulnerability into power.
There is some solar plexus healing that can happen here when you realize that your inner artist reflects your inner child and needs to be nurtured. Sharing with supportive people first can help you to build your power from within before putting your inner artist on trial in front of a larger audience. You have the power to determine what you internalize from now on!
Growth is not linear and we take back our power every time we choose to listen to the voice within. There is no deadline for your dreams and it’s okay to take a few steps back occasionally. Rest is important!
The exercises that I talked about for Week 3 are:
Describe your childhood room
Describe 5 traits you had as a child that you liked
List 5 childhood accomplishments
List your 5 favourite childhood foods then buy one!
List 3 rotten habits (obvious) and 3 undesirable habits (subtle)
Make a list of 3 nurturing friends and their great characteristics
Call one of those friends
Inner Compass: how are you being lead? Use your morning pages or pay attention when you’re cleaning, driving etc. to see what is coming up as a warning or inspiration.
List 5 People you admire and their traits you could emulate
List 5 people you admire that have died and how you could find friends like them

52: The Artist‘s Way: Recovering a Sense of Identity (Week 2)
Tuesday Oct 05, 2021
Tuesday Oct 05, 2021
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘺
This episode is about the second of twelve weeks in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
My artist date this week was spending some time playing with watercolours. I also spent some time watching some artist videos on TikTok to fill my well and get inspired!
In this chapter, the focus is on exploring our self doubt and external factors that contribute to it. Instead of suppressing doubts, be curious about why you believe them and where they are coming from. It is challenging to believe that we are creative and that our creativity is a divine gift. We need to protect our inner artist and ensure that we are choosing supportive people to share with, especially at the beginning. We trust our doubts more than our dreams for the first stages of recovering our creativity.
"Crazymakers" are people who create drama that distracts us from our growth. As if our own self doubt and inner skepticism wasn't already enough, these energy vampires show up to demand our attention just when things are gaining momentum. We need to strengthen our boundaries to prevent these people from giving up on our creative path. Eventually, we will trust ourselves enough to ignore them, but we may need some distance when we are still vulnerable. Staying stuck can feel safe and crazymakers want to make sure that we don't move forward so they enable our self-sabotage.
Attention determines how you experience life. Even in the most difficult times, you can notice the everyday miracles. When we pay attention, we are open to new possibilities and synchronicities and we are in the present moment.
"Draw a sacred circle around your recovery. Give yourself the gift of faith. Trust that you are on the right track. You are."
The exercises that I talked about for Week 2 are:
List your top 5 activities this week and note how much time you spent on them, if they were for someone else, and if they are wants or "shoulds"
Create a safety map circle. Inside the circle, write the activities that are important to protect and the people who will support you. Outside the circle, write the crazymakers and others that should be avoided
List 20 things you enjoy doing and when you last did them. This is a great resource for artist dates
Select 2 things from the list as goals and take small steps toward them or spend a short amount of time on them
Review your affirmations from last week and choose 2 that you have a strong reaction to. Write them 3 times each in your morning pages and explore your reaction
Imaginary Lives: List 5 more lives you could lead if anything was possible.
Life Pie: Draw a circle and split it into 6 pieces. Label them spirituality, exercise, play, work, friends, romance/adventure. Draw a circle in each wedge. Draw it near the center if you are less fulfilled in that area, closer to the edge if you are fulfilled. Connect the dots to see how jagged (out of balance) or circular (fulfilled) you are overall. Use a different colour every few weeks to check your progress
Ten Tiny Challenges: make a list of 10 small actions you have been avoiding that would improve your quality of life and boost your trust in yourself. I finally put up some removable wallpaper I've had for a long time!
Let me know how you're enjoying the series if you're following along!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺
This episode is about the first of twelve weeks in the course and book The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
I completed my morning pages every day this week and even wrote more than three pages a couple of times. My artist date was simple - baking cookies and watching a Christmas movie - but I did it!
In this chapter, there is a lot of talk about negative core beliefs. These are a result of societal and personal conditioning around creativity. You may feel like your aren't good enough to be an artist (whatever creative title you wish to hold), that you won't be successful, that you would become a burden to others or any number of beliefs that come from external sources.
These become your inner "censor" that shows up to belittle you or discourage you when you try to think positively about your abilities. Like the ego, the censor is trying to keep you in your comfort zone because the unknown seems unsafe. The mean phrases that come up the most are your "blurts" and you should write these down! You can then create affirmations to counteract them.
The exercises that I talked about for Week 1 are:
Time Travel: List 3 people that discouraged you that should be in your Monster Hall of Fame
Write about one monster story and then follow up with a letter to the editor justifying why this was hurtful and why they should be in the Monster Hall of Fame
Time Travel: List 3 people who supported you that should be in your Hall of Champions
Imaginary Lives: List 5 different lives you could lead if anything was possible. These could be careers you've always dreamed about or a way of being that sounds ideal to you. Then, select one and do something that you would do if that was your life!
Go for a walk to clear your head and allow yourself to daydream
As I said last week, I like to think of this book as the artist's shadow work since it looks at aspects of yourself that have been ignored. I suggest getting a copy if you can but either way, you can follow along and do some of the weekly exercises!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆: 𝗔 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆
This episode is an introduction to a book called The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron.
I will be doing a 12 week series to share the wisdom of each week's chapter and my own experiences with the themes and exercises.
I have gone through this book twice fully and have been meaning to complete the course again. It has been on my mind to do an episode on it for awhile and it came up during my Card Pull Friday leading up to the full moon in Pisces. This makes a lot of sense since emotional wounds, intuition and creativity are all associated with this sign and the book!
In this episode, I talked about "morning pages" which is the author's daily activity that involves hand writing three stream of consciousness pages each day to clear your mind of clutter (something that is aligned with last week's episode!) The other regular activity is taking yourself on "artist dates" to do something that feeds your inner artist.
I like to think of this book as the artist's shadow work as it digs in to some deep wounds and opens up new beliefs and trust. I suggest getting a copy if you can but either way, you can follow along and do some of the weekly exercises!

𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴
This episode is all about decluttering in all areas of life! I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I have been giving away and getting rid of a lot of my old things in the past couple of months and doing a "spring" cleaning (I feel like I hibernated all summer)!
Clutter comes in many forms, from thoughts, digital photos, emails, commitments and more. I talked in the episode about how clutter can reflect a scarcity or lack mindset and show up as hoarding. We feel the need to hang onto thoughts, things and even photos on our phone that we never look at. It is so hard to let things flow through us.
Clearing our minds, energy fields and spaces makes room for us to receive the abundance and downloads we are calling in!

Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁
In this episode, I decided to do an oracle card forecast! When I was thinking about what to talk about this week, I kept thinking about my Card Pull Friday Instagram lives that I do on Concrete and Crystals, so I thought it would be fun to start a card reading forecast series for the podcast. I'll do these episodes when I feel intuitively inspired instead of scheduling them to make sure it is always in alignment.
For this reading, I used the Light Seers Tarot deck to pull five cards. I feel like this is meant as a forecast for September. The messages were around heart-centered work and taking new actions to move forward.
Let me know if you enjoyed this type of episode!

47: Card Reading for Yourself
Tuesday Aug 31, 2021
Tuesday Aug 31, 2021
𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳
In today's episode, I decided to give some insights into how I approach reading for myself. Reading for ourselves can be tricky since we have a VERY personal interest in the outcome and messages attached to the cards. I read for myself every day, so I see patterns and context a lot easier than I used to!
I talked about the differences I feel reading for myself and others. I trust the messages a lot more when I read for others because it feels more channeled, while I feel my ego stepping in when I pull cards for myself! I gave some examples of cards and patterns I've been seeing in my morning readings and also some strategies I use to get a more complete message from each card.
I use the guide books when reading for myself because there are often meanings that I would otherwise miss. Although I don't do this for my clients, I'll still pull out the books when I do a reading for someone I know really well because I want the best for them too!

In this episode, I talk about what I've learned over the years about choosing the right reader or healer for you. I was introduced to this world by going in person to psychic expos and walking around to feel drawn to someone, but that isn't the case for most people who are curious and looking for support - especially now!
Using your own intuition is the best way to decide who is right for you. I truly believe that any reading or healing you seek out is just a tool you are using to heal yourself and initiate growth. There are lots of ways to discern which healers, readers and coaches are a match for you and I've shared what I consider when I'm looking for support.

We will talk about spiritual modalities such as oracle cards, pendulums, crystals, psychic/soul reading, mediumship, Reiki/energy healing, numerology, astrology and human design (and whatever else comes our way!)
I am your host, Andrea McCallum, and I am an intuitive oracle card reader & energy healer. I have explored many modalities but the only thing I‘m an expert on is my own experience!
My hope is that through these episodes, you will find some spirit crumbs of your own along the way!
